In the past couple of weeks, we were glad to have in Bucharest the elder oversight visit of our overseing church (CURC Santee). Because of the COVID-19 pandemic this was not possible last year, as US citizens were not allowed to enter Romania on a visitor visa. We are thankful that in the Lord’s providence the pandemic situation has improved and now Americans are allowed to enter Romania.

We were able to spend time discussing the situation of our church planting ministry here and to prayerfully consider our hopes and plans for the future. Both Claudiu (our local Romanian elder) and I have appreciated the process of going through the Classis visitation form where we got the chance to reflect on the various aspects of our ministry here.

As we celebrate 5 years of difficult work on this mission field hardened by past Communism and Byzantine idolatry, we are thankful to the Lord for the progress we are able to track, but also for the weaknesses we can pray for. Although some particular circumstances are different in Bucharest, the sinfulness of people is the same both in the US and Romania. We are thankful for being able to learn from the advice we receive from our overseeing church.
